Lost His Arms and Legs at 19: What's Your Excuse? with DJ Hookie

Show notes

Welcome back to the Driven Young podcast and today I am joined by an incredible man, Tom Nash, aka DJ Hooky.

At 19 years old Tom was enjoying his life, studying at university when all of a sudden he contracted a disease. 2 weeks later he woke up from a coma with the decision to either amputate his hands and legs or die.

Today Tom is a quadruple amputee with hooks for hands hence the name hooky, he is a promoter and Dj as well as a public speaker who has done a TED talk with over 2 million views.

In this episode Tom shares his story, what happened to him, what was going on in his mind, we talk about opportunity cost and how we post rationalize our decisions, how to know what to do after school, the nocebo effect, partying, and traveling, the education system, mindset stuff and so much more, that is just scratching the surface.

As you will find out in this episode, Tom is a really smart guy and this is one of my favorite conversations, we cover so many important things in this episode, I really hope you can commit to listening to the whole thing.
